Best Seasons for the Great Wall, Guilin, Yunnan and Xinjiang
China is huge, so the best month depends on the region. Here is a simple seasonal map for better planning.
Spring and autumn are the most comfortable seasons for classic China routes. The Great Wall is crisp and photogenic, while Beijing and Xi’an are easier to explore on foot.
Guilin and Yangshuo are lush from late spring through early autumn, with misty hills and green fields. Yunnan is mild for much of the year, while Xinjiang shines in late spring, summer, and early autumn.
If your dates are fixed, the itinerary should adapt to weather instead of fighting it. That is where private planning makes a real difference.
