GOOD TO KNOW

Massage – Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Massage therapy is generally safe when provided by a licensed and trained therapist. Please inform your therapist if you are pregnant, have had recent surgery or fractures, have serious cardiovascular conditions, or skin infections/open wounds.

Massage therapy may help relieve muscle tension and soreness, improve circulation, reduce stress, improve flexibility, and support recovery from chronic strain.

Coverage depends on your individual insurance plan. Massage therapy provided by a Registered Massage Therapist (RMT) is often eligible for reimbursement.

Yes. We support direct billing (electronic insurance claims submission). If your insurance plan allows, we can submit claims directly on your behalf. You are only responsible for any remaining balance not covered.

Massage does not need to be painful to be effective. Mild soreness can be normal. Please communicate with your therapist if pressure is uncomfortable.

Avoid heavy meals beforehand, wear comfortable clothing, and share your health history and areas of concern with your therapist.

General relaxation: every 1-2 weeks. Chronic muscle tightness or pain: once a week for a short course (typically 3-6 sessions). Rehabilitation: as recommended by your therapist.

Mild soreness, fatigue, or increased urination are normal and usually resolve within 24-48 hours.

Massage may not be recommended if you have fever, acute infection, blood clots, serious skin conditions, or undiagnosed severe pain.

Massage focuses on muscle relaxation and circulation, while physiotherapy focuses on assessment, rehabilitation, and functional recovery.

In general, prenatal massage is considered safe during the third to seventh month of pregnancy, provided that it is performed by a properly trained prenatal massage therapist and appropriate precautions are taken.

Massage therapy is not addictive. Long-term benefits are best achieved when combined with exercise, stretching, and posture improvement.
