Being seen from behind matters more than seeing ahead, and the Ember takes that seriously. A wide diffuser spreads the light across a genuinely broad angle, so you remain visible to a driver approaching from an angle rather than directly behind.
Notices when you brake
A small accelerometer detects deceleration and briefly flares the light to full output, in the same way a car brake light does.
