Every spindle passes right through the seat and is locked with a wedge driven across the grain, the way a Windsor chair has been assembled for three hundred years. Nothing depends on a screw. The seat is a solid cherry slab, scooped with a travisher until it fits rather than routed to a fixed profile, so the two edges under your thighs are thinner than the middle. Cherry darkens faster than any timber we use — expect the pale honey of week one to become a deep russet inside eighteen months, and expect it to happen unevenly until the whole chair catches up.
Loom Spindle Chair
