Where the suction sits well below the floor — an intake channel, a storm sump, a deep well — a vertical turbine removes the NPSH problem instead of managing it. The VT Series is built to the site’s sump drawing: column length, bowl count and discharge head are made to order rather than picked from three lengths.
Bowls are supplied in cast iron, bronze-fitted or all-stainless construction depending on the water. Line shafting runs in cutless rubber or bronze bearings, product lubricated as standard, with an enclosed oil-lubricated option for sandy water. The discharge head takes either a hollow-shaft vertical motor with a non-reverse ratchet or a right-angle gear drive for engine-driven installations.
Critical speed of the assembled shaft line is calculated for every column length we quote, because a column that resonates at running speed will destroy the bearings whatever the hydraulics do.
