Every Gilded Fern piece is shaped by hand, one small collection at a time. This is what happens between a coil of raw brass and the pouch that lands on your doorstep.
Sketched from the garden
Each design starts as a pencil line borrowed from something growing – the unrolling curve of a fern frond, the vein map of a leaf, the way dew sits on a stem. We sketch, cut paper samples and wear them around the studio for a week before any metal is touched.
Shaped at the bench
Bands are curved on the mandrel, leaves are cut and veined by hand, and every hammered surface is planished facet by facet. Hand work leaves signatures – no two pieces carry exactly the same pattern of light, and that is the point.
Finished to last
Edges are eased until they glide over fabric, clasps are tested until they click with certainty, and gold-tone and silver-tone finishes are sealed with a protective micro-lacquer that keeps the glow through daily wear.
Inspected, then boxed
Every piece is checked under the bench lamp – clasp, closure, finish, stone seat – before it is wrapped in its linen pouch. A piece that does not pass stays on the bench until it does.
