Four bowls, 18 cm across and 6.5 cm deep. That is 600 ml to the rim and about 450 ml at a fill you would actually carry to a table, which covers soup, a serving of pasta, a rice bowl or a breakfast. One shape doing four jobs is the point.
Why four
Bowls get used more than any other shape and break more than any other shape. Four is the smallest number that gets a household through a week without running the dishwasher mid-meal, and it absorbs one breakage without leaving you short. Single replacement bowls stay in the range, so a set of four does not quietly become a set of three.
The glaze
The same reactive glaze used on the plates. In a bowl the glaze pools at the base and thins at the rim, so the inside runs a shade darker than the outside and no two are matched. Sets are packed from a single firing, which keeps the four visibly related without making them identical.
Weight and stacking
About 480 g each. Four nest to roughly 17 cm. Bowls nest rim to wall rather than foot to face, so they do not need pads between them.
In use
Dishwasher and microwave safe. The unglazed foot ring will mark a soft lacquered table, so use a mat if that matters to you.
