A round dinner plate at 27 cm across. Large enough for a full meal, small enough that two sit side by side in a standard dishwasher rack. The rim is low and slightly rolled, which keeps a sauce on the plate and stops a knife catching on the edge.
The glaze
Reactive glaze over a dark stoneware body. Iron in the clay pulls up through the glaze where it runs thin, so the rim breaks lighter than the well and the tone shifts between pieces from the same firing. If you want six that sit closely together on a table, order six at once. Ordering again next year will give you a close relative, not a twin.
Weight and stacking
Each plate weighs about 720 g. Six stack to roughly 16 cm with pads between them. The foot ring is unglazed and harder than the glazed face it rests on, so put a felt pad or a paper towel between plates that live stacked in a cupboard.
In use
Dishwasher safe on a standard cycle and microwave safe. Not intended for oven use: the rim is thin and thermal shock is the failure that actually breaks stoneware.
