Wet-style brewing needs somewhere for the water to go. The slatted top lets rinses and drips fall through to a reservoir that slides out and empties in one motion, so the table stays dry and the session stays unhurried. The walnut is oiled, not lacquered, and darkens handsomely with use.
At 42 cm it seats a gaiwan, fair cup, strainer and four tasting cups without crowding. The underside is padded so it slides quietly rather than scraping.
