A manual deck: you cue the arm, you lift it at the end of a side. The motor sits away from the platter and drives it through a rubber belt, which keeps motor vibration out of the bearing.
What is in the box
The BD-2 ships with a moving-magnet cartridge already mounted on the headshell and aligned. Tracking force is set at the factory and re-checked on the counterweight scale before it leaves; a stylus gauge is not supplied, so if you re-mount a cartridge yourself you will want one.
The phono stage
There is a switchable moving-magnet phono preamplifier built in. Switch it on and the RCA outputs go into any line input on an amplifier or a powered speaker. Switch it off and use a separate phono stage instead. Both are wired, not simulated.
Speed
33 and 45 rpm, changed by moving the belt between two steps on the motor pulley. There is no electronic speed switch. Wow and flutter is quoted by the manufacturer rather than measured by us. [Client to confirm a measured wow and flutter figure if a test report exists.]
