PC-G500
PC-G500 Gas Generating Set
A 500 kVA spark-ignited set on natural gas, for sites with a gas supply and a high expected running hour count.
- Gas train with double block and bleed, low and high pressure switches and a manual isolation valve
- Detonation sensing with automatic ignition timing retard to protect the engine on variable gas quality
- Longer service intervals than the equivalent diesel frame at continuous running
- Accepts natural gas or LPG with the correct carburation and gas train specified per site

Product detail
Gas earns its place where the set runs for hundreds of hours a year rather than a handful, and where a gas supply already reaches the site. Fuel is delivered by pipeline instead of by road, there is no bunded tank to build, no fuel to polish and no diesel to go stale in a tank that never empties.
What is different from a diesel
A spark-ignited set accepts block load more slowly than a diesel of the same rating, because the fuel has to be metered and burned rather than injected. For a standby application with a hard transfer time this is the deciding constraint, and it is why gas sets are more often specified for prime, peak-shaving or continuous duty than for life-safety standby.
Gas quality
Output and service life both depend on the methane number of the supply. The rating on this page assumes pipeline-quality natural gas. Biogas, landfill gas and LPG all need the carburation, ignition mapping and gas train specified separately, and a gas analysis is part of that.
Gas train and safety
Supplied with a double block and bleed arrangement, low and high pressure switches, a filter and a manual isolation valve. [Client to confirm the gas safety approvals, installation standard and commissioning body required at the installation site.]
Emissions
[Client to confirm the applicable emissions limits for a stationary spark-ignited engine in the destination market before this specification is quoted against them.]
