Product detail

A control valve is not a catalogue item with a size on it. It is a calculation: the flow you need at minimum, normal and maximum conditions, the pressure drop available at each, and the trim that will deliver that range without cavitating or choking. The VK-300 is quoted against those numbers, and the sizing sheet is issued with the quotation so it can be checked before anything is machined.

Trim

A guided cage carries the plug over its whole travel, which keeps the plug stable at low openings where an unguided plug would chatter. Equal percentage, linear and quick opening characteristics are cut into the cage. Where the pressure drop is high enough to flash or cavitate, a multi-stage cage takes the drop in steps rather than all at one seat.

Actuator and positioner

Spring and diaphragm actuator sized on the shut-off differential, not the operating one, with the fail position set from the process requirement. The valve is bench stroked with its positioner fitted, and the stroke time and bench set are recorded.

What to send us

Flow at minimum, normal and maximum, inlet pressure and pressure drop at each, medium and its state, inlet temperature, and the fail action. Line size alone is not enough to size a control valve and any supplier who quotes from it is guessing.
