Product detail
A globe valve is the right answer when the line has to be adjusted rather than switched. The flow turns twice inside the body, which costs pressure drop, and in exchange the disc moves perpendicular to the seat so partial opening does not destroy the seating surface. That is the whole trade, and it is worth making whenever a valve is going to sit somewhere other than fully open.
Plug profiles
A plug disc for tight shut-off and general throttling, a needle profile where fine adjustment matters at small openings, and a hardfaced parabolic plug for steam and other erosive service. The profile is chosen from the duty on the enquiry, not from a default in the order form.
Seat ring
Renewable and threaded into the body, so a damaged seat is a spare part rather than a new valve. Hardfaced seating surfaces are standard above Class 300 and available on request below it.
Installation
Flow under the seat unless the datasheet says otherwise, so the packing is not exposed to line pressure with the valve closed. On steam service above roughly DN200 the arrangement is often reversed to reduce the seating force; that is a decision to make at specification, not on site.
