A wardrobe door is a metre of solid timber standing on end, and a metre of solid timber will move six or seven millimetres between seasons. The Cobbet gives it room: each door is a frame with a floating quarter-sawn panel, grooved 9 mm deep with 3 mm of seasonal clearance, riding on a pair of silicone space balls that keep it centred. Inside, a solid oak hanging rail sits at 1620 mm with four dovetailed drawers below. The carcass is housed and pegged, not screwed, and it ships in three parts so it will make it up a domestic stair.
