Three points define a plane, which is why a three-legged table is stable on a flagstone floor that would make a four-legged one wobble for a decade. The legs are turned to a round tapered tenon and driven into matching reamed sockets in the hub under the top — a dry-fit joint that tightens rather than loosens as the leg shrinks onto the tapered socket. At 540 mm it stands 150 mm above the Brackenmoor arm, the right height to set a glass down without looking.
