Bed rails take more racking force than any other joint in a house and they have to come apart when you move. The Thornbury solves both with draw-bored tenons: the peg hole through the tenon is offset 1.5 mm toward the shoulder, so driving a tapered oak peg pulls the joint permanently tight without glue, and knocking the peg back out releases it. The deck is nineteen ash slats on rubber mounts — no bed base required. The headboard is a run of vertical oak boards with a 4 mm shadow gap between each, so the whole panel can move seasonally without a single split.
