Refrigerated wins indoors
A +3 °C pressure dew point stops condensation in any heated building. For general factory air — tools, cylinders, blow-off — refrigerated drying is cheaper to buy, cheaper to run and almost maintenance-free.
Desiccant wins outdoors and on sensitive processes
Pipe running outside in winter, instrument air, powder coating, pharma and electronics: anything that must stay dry below freezing or bone-dry at all times needs a −40 °C dew point only desiccant towers deliver.
The hybrid nobody regrets
Dry the whole plant refrigerated, then add a small point-of-use desiccant dryer on the one line that needs it. You pay the purge penalty on 5% of the flow instead of all of it.
