A hand towel is washed two or three times as often as a bath towel, because it is used by everyone in the house and it is never given time to dry between uses. That is the whole argument for buying four: two on the rail, two in the cupboard, and neither pair ever going back on damp.
Same cloth as the bath towels
These are woven from the same 500 GSM long-staple cotton as the Ridgeline bath towel and bath sheet, in the same colours, so a bathroom can be kitted out without matching two different cloths. If you already own the bath towels, these will fade at the same rate.
Size
50 x 90 cm is a genuine hand towel rather than the 40 x 60 cm guest size that some ranges sell under the same name. It is long enough to fold in half over a rail and still cover a pair of hands.
Care
Because these are washed so often, they are the pieces where fabric softener does the most damage. Softener leaves a waxy film across the loops, and once a hand towel has it, it will push water around rather than take it up. Half a dose of ordinary detergent and no softener is all they need.
