Quick answers to what we get asked most. Anything else, ask us directly.
How do I measure my head for a hat?
Wrap a soft tape (or a string you then measure) around your head where the hat will sit – about a finger above the ears and across the mid-forehead. Keep it snug but not tight. That centimetre number maps to our S-XL chart on each product page; between sizes, take the larger and use the included sizing tape.
Which hat suits my face shape?
Honest answer: more hats suit you than you think, and confidence does most of the work. Rules of thumb – longer faces like wider brims and lower crowns; rounder faces like angular crowns and asymmetric wear; strong jaws soften under curved brims. Our Journal guide walks through it with examples.
How do I care for a wool felt hat?
Brush with the grain after wearing – thirty seconds, counter-clockwise around the crown. Rest it on a stand or crown-down, never on its brim. If it gets rained on, shake it out and let it dry naturally away from radiators; heat is the only real enemy. Our felt-care Journal post has the full ritual.
Can I pack a straw or felt hat in luggage?
Paper straw braid hats like the Meadow tolerate being rolled for a day or two and steam back to shape. Blocked felt should never be crushed – use the Voyager travel case or wear it aboard like generations of travellers before you. Boaters and ranchers with stiffened brims want the case, full stop.
My hat lost its shape – is it ruined?
Almost never. Light steam from a kettle and patient hands fix most sagging brims and dented crowns – hold the hat in the steam, coax, let it cool in shape. Anything worse, use our mail-in reshape service: we re-block anything we sold at cost, forever.
How fast is shipping?
Orders ship within 2 business days, tracked, with felt brims in crush-proof hat boxes. Orders over $60 ship free. Unworn hats return freely within 30 days – see Shipping & Returns for the details.
