About Us

Artist-grade supplies chosen at a working paint bench - swatched, tested and honestly priced.

Umberfield Art Supply started as a paint-mixing bench in the back of a shared studio. We were the people other painters asked to test things – which blue survived sunlight, which brush kept its point, which paper forgave a heavy hand – and after enough borrowed verdicts it was easier to open a counter and stock the answers. This shop is that counter, several thousand swatches later.

What we stock

Acrylics in tubes and studio jars, watercolours in pans and tubes, hand-shaped brushes, linen sketchbooks and cold press paper, graphite and willow charcoal, beech easels and boards, walnut and porcelain palettes, supply chests, brush rolls and the gift sets that share all of it. Everything earns shelf space the same way: it gets used here first.

How we choose

  • Swatched before stocked: every paint batch is brushed out, washed and checked against its own last run before it goes on the wall.
  • Tools tested in work: brushes, easels and palettes spend weeks on our own benches before we will sell them.
  • Plain and honest: we favour unprinted, unbranded goods – the work should carry the signature, not the packaging.
