Are your paints artist grade or student grade?
Artist grade throughout: single-pigment colours where the wheel allows, full-strength loads and no hidden fillers. We stock one line per medium and test every batch, which is how a small counter keeps quality tighter than a warehouse.
How do I choose my first brush sizes?
For watercolour, a round 8 does most of the work; add a 4 for detail and a 12 for skies – exactly our Sable Trio. For acrylics, start with flats in 6 and 12 plus a filbert 8. Buy fewer, better brushes and wash them kindly; the count grows on its own.
Will the watercolour pans rewet after months unused?
Yes – our pans are poured in small batches and dried slowly, so they lift with one wet brush even after a season in a drawer. If a tin has sat all winter, a light mist thirty seconds before painting brings the whole palette back at once.
Are your materials safe for a home studio?
Our paints and mediums are formulated with common studio-safety practices in mind, and each label carries plain-language handling notes. Keep colour away from food, ventilate when using mediums generously, and store tubes out of small hands’ reach – the same habits every studio runs on.
What surfaces do the acrylics work on?
Canvas, wood panel, heavy paper above 200 gsm, and most primed surfaces. For raw wood or hardboard, one coat of gesso stops the first layer sinking. They are not formulated for fabric that will be washed or for outdoor murals without a sealing coat.
