Description
A wooden palette is a tool you season rather than replace. Ours is cut from walnut in the classic kidney shape, balanced around the thumb hole so an hour of holding costs nothing, and finished with oil so paint slides off a scraper instead of soaking in.
Walnut’s mid-brown value is the honest reason painters keep choosing it: colours read truer against it than against white plastic, which flatters nothing. Scrape at the end of the session, wipe with a drop of oil, and the surface grows glassier and better every month. Left-handed painters: the shape is symmetric – just flip it.
