Every Nestlings piece follows the same quiet rules before it reaches a nursery. This page is the short version of what happens between sketch and shelf.
Materials we say yes to
Organic cotton muslin, solid beech and maple, wool felt and food-grade silicone. Finishes are water-based and toy-safe; textiles are dyed gently and pre-washed. If a material needs a warning label to live with a baby, it does not get through the door.
Sanded, sewn, checked again
Wooden pieces are sanded until edges disappear, then sealed with beeswax or left bare. Seams on textiles are double-stitched and pull-tested; snaps and ties are anchored through two layers. Small parts are sized and tested so they stay where they belong.
Testing, honestly
Products are checked against the applicable safety standards for their category, and every batch gets a hands-on inspection — pull tests, wash tests, chew-height checks. Then the real audit: eleven weeks with our own families before anything launches.
Care that keeps it safe
Safety is also maintenance. Each product page carries plain-language care notes — how to wash, when to re-oil wood, what to check for as toys age. Five extra minutes a month keeps an heirloom an heirloom.
