About Us

Small-batch bars, salts and butters in honest ingredients - poured slowly, cured six weeks, wrapped in plain kraft.

Latherstone began at a kitchen stove with one borrowed loaf mould, a bag of olive oil soap base and the discovery that a bar made slowly feels nothing like a bar made by the million. We wanted soap that behaved like something someone had actually touched: marbled by hand, cured with patience, scented with essential oil blends rather than perfume charts, and wrapped in paper that recycles with the newspapers. So we started pouring.

What we make and choose

Everything in the catalogue passes the same three tests at our studio bench: it must be poured or assembled in small batches we can personally check, survive daily use in our own bathrooms for a full season, and carry nothing on its surface but the pattern the pour gave it. Bases are olive, coconut, shea and cocoa; scents are essential oil blends; colours are mineral pigments. If a batch cures uneven or a scent drifts, it does not ship.

How we work

  • Small batches: every loaf is poured, cut and stamped-with-nothing by the same pair of hands, then logged and racked for its six-week cure.
  • Plain words: ingredient bases and care notes are stated simply on every listing – no chemistry theatre, no promises soap cannot keep.
  • Less packaging: kraft bands, glass jars and paper filler – packaging you compost, reuse or recycle, never apologise for.
