Kestrel Pack Co. started with a commute that kept eating bags: straps that frayed at the same corner, zips that quit in the rain, “waterproof” fabric that gave up by March. We cut our first pack on a kitchen table from truck-tarp canvas and army-surplus webbing, and carried it for a year before we let anyone buy one.
What we make
Daypacks, travel packs, laptop briefs, totes, slings, duffels and the small leather goods that ride inside them – all cut from water-resistant coated canvas, trimmed with vegetable-tanned style leather and stitched around webbing that runs the full length of every load path.
How we build
- Fabric first: coated and waxed canvas chosen for how it wears at year three, not how it photographs at day one.
- Bar-tacked stress points: every strap anchor is bar-tacked and back-stitched; handles wrap under the bag, not just onto it.
- Carried before sold: every design rides on our own shoulders through a full season of commutes before it ships.
