A bag is a set of promises: the strap will hold, the seam will not creep, the rain will stay outside. This is how we keep them.
Cut from the good part of the roll
Coated canvas varies across a roll, so every panel is inspected on the light table and cut around thin spots. Panels that carry weight – bases, back panels, strap anchors – come only from the densest weave.
Webbing runs the whole way
On every Kestrel pack the load-bearing webbing runs the full length of the bag and wraps under the base. Handles and straps are anchored to that webbing, never to fabric alone – the difference between a bag that lasts a lease and one that lasts a decade.
Stitched twice, taped once
Main seams are double-stitched, then taped on the inside so the shell stays weather-ready even where the needle has been. Stress points take a bar-tack – a dense block of stitches that spreads load across the weave.
Hardware you can service
Buckles, sliders and zips are standard sizes, chosen so they can be replaced in any repair shop in the world. We would rather your bag be fixed in a decade than replaced this year.
