Description
This is a top-grade traditional black tea and the leaf is unmistakable: very fine, very tight, almost black with a faint bloom. Despite its reputation there is no smoke in it at all — the smokiness people associate with the style comes from cheap blends.
What is actually there is rose, cocoa powder and a clean, resinous top note that clears the palate. Good with food, unbeatable at breakfast.
How we drink it
Do not overleaf it. A modest pinch, water just off the boil and a short first infusion. It gets astringent quickly if you push it.
