Product detail

Cantilever racking exists because long loads do not sit on pallets. There is no front upright to catch the end of a six-metre length, so the load goes on and comes off from the side with nothing in the way.

Arm load and column load

Two figures again. Each arm has a rated capacity at its full length, and the column has a total capacity for everything hanging on one side of it. Loading four arms to their individual rating can still overload the column, which is why the load notice states both and the arm rating is quoted at the arm length you ordered, not at a shorter one.

The base is the design

A loaded arm tries to tip the column over. The base carries that moment, so base length grows with arm length and with how high the top arm sits. Double-sided runs balance each other and take a shorter base; single-sided runs against a wall need the longer base and the anchor pattern that goes with it.

Arms

Arms bolt to the column face on a 100 mm pitch and are supplied straight or with a 5 degree incline for stock that would otherwise roll off. Arm end stops are a separate bolted part so they can be added where a load rolls and left off where a fork needs to pass.

Outdoors

Timber and tube yards frequently put this system outside under a canopy. In that case the columns and arms are hot-dip galvanised and the base fixings are specified for an exterior slab.
