Product detail

Radio shuttle keeps the density of drive-in and removes the reason drive-in lanes stay shallow. The truck never enters the lane. It places a pallet on the lane entry, and a battery shuttle carries it to the first free position and comes back.

Where the gain is

Two places. Lane depth stops being limited by driver confidence, so a lane can run past twenty pallets where a drive-in lane would stop at six. And the racking stops absorbing impacts, because nothing with a mast goes inside it. In a freezer, where the truck is the least reliable part of the operation, that second point usually matters more than the first.

How the lane works

The shuttle runs on rails carried by the frame. It is placed in the lane by the truck, controlled from a handheld unit, and moved between lanes as work moves. One shuttle serves many lanes, so the cost of the automation scales with throughput rather than with pallet positions.

FIFO or LIFO

A lane loaded and unloaded from the same face is last-in first-out. Loading one face and picking the other makes it first-in first-out, which is the layout to specify for dated stock. That choice changes the aisle count and has to be made before the frames are set out.

Pallet quality

Deep-lane systems are unforgiving about pallets. A broken bottom board that a truck would drive over will stop a shuttle in the middle of a full lane. Pallet condition, bottom board layout and overhang are checked as part of the survey.
