A good tamp is level and repeatable, and this tamper makes both easier. The 58.5 mm stainless base is machined flat and weighted so the tamper does most of the pressing for you, while the turned walnut handle fills the palm at exactly the height that keeps wrists straight.
The base threads off for cleaning or swapping. It stands upright on the bench between shots, which is a small thing that turns out to matter every single morning.
