Liners rarely fail suddenly — they drift. Product creeps coarser, power draw climbs, and one week the plant quietly stops making its best-selling fraction. A wear routine catches the drift early.
Measure, do not remember
Profile the chamber at a fixed interval — a wear gauge or a scan, always at the same points. Numbers on a sheet beat impressions in a hard hat: two measurements make a trend, and the trend names the changeout date weeks in advance.
Read the product curve as a gauge
The screen deck sees liner wear before anyone climbs into the chamber. If the same closed-side setting starts making coarser product, or the circulating load climbs at constant feed, the chamber profile has opened. Track the product gradation weekly and pin it to the same feed type.
Watch power draw and setting together
Chasing product size by tightening the setting on worn liners pushes power draw and packing risk up. When the setting needed to hold spec approaches the machine’s minimum, that is the calendar telling you the campaign is over — schedule the change while it is still a choice.
Plan the change as a shift, not an emergency
A planned liner change needs parts on the shelf, a crane slot and a written procedure. An unplanned one needs all of that plus overtime and an apology to every customer on the loading list. The measurement routine is what buys the difference.
