Everything upstream of this unit is about moving heat efficiently. The C1200 is where it finally leaves, and whether that happens for free is the single largest lever on the annual energy bill.
The case for warm water, completed
A loop that supplies servers at 32 to 45 °C returns to the roof at 40 °C or higher. Rejecting 40 °C water to 35 °C air needs nothing but a fan. In a temperate climate that condition holds for roughly 8,100 hours a year, which is to say the chiller stays off for all but a few weeks of summer afternoons.
Modulation, not staging
Ten EC fans modulate continuously on leaving water temperature. Because fan power scales with the cube of speed, ten fans at 40 % draw dramatically less than four fans at 100 % for the same air volume. Staged units give that saving away for the sake of a simpler control panel.
Design-day insurance
Optional adiabatic pre-cool pads wet the entering air on the handful of days that exceed design ambient. They run a few dozen hours a year, use a trivial amount of water, and let the whole plant be sized for the climate you actually have rather than the worst hour of the decade.
Nothing to fail
There is no compressor, no refrigerant circuit and no pressure vessel in a C1200. Maintenance is fan bearings and coil cleaning.
