NordSteam Sauna Custom Saunas & Steam Rooms

About Us

Eighteen years of sauna engineering, a 9,600 m² works on the Oregon coast, and a stubborn preference for building things that can be serviced.

NordSteam Sauna began in 2008 as a two-bench joinery shop building barrel cabins for Pacific Northwest cabins and lodges. Eighteen years later we operate a 9,600 m² works, employ forty-one people and ship to thirty-seven export markets — but the working method has not changed. We draw the cabin, we build it, we take it apart, and we ship it numbered.

What we actually do

We are a manufacturer, not a distributor. Timber arrives as sawn stock and leaves as a numbered flat pack. Heaters, controllers and steam generators are assembled and tested in-house against our own specification. That vertical integration is why we can change a bench height, a door swing or a heater rating without a six-week tooling conversation.

How a project runs

1. Technical brief

You send room dimensions, ceiling height, intended capacity and the electrical supply available on site. If you have architectural drawings, we work from those.

2. Specification and layout

Within two working days we return a heater calculation, a bench layout, a ventilation schedule and a firm price. Nothing in that document is a placeholder.

3. Manufacture and dry assembly

The cabin is built complete on our factory floor and checked for panel alignment, heater clearance and vapour-barrier continuity before anything is packed.

4. Delivery and commissioning

Panels arrive labelled against the drawing set with all fixings pre-sorted. Commissioning — heater staging, controller programming, ventilation balancing — is carried out by our own engineers or by your installer working from our schedule.

Certification

Our electric heaters and controllers are certified to EN 60335-2-53 for the European market and listed to UL 875 for North America. Timber is supplied under FSC® chain of custody. Steam room fittings are rated IP24 or better throughout.

The people

The engineering team is four people: two mechanical, one electrical, one building physicist who spends most of her time arguing about vapour barriers. The joinery floor runs two shifts. Nobody at NordSteam works in sales without having spent a month on the floor first.
