Membrane bioreactor for tertiary effluent reuse, delivering RO-ready filtrate from mixed liquor.
Submerged flat-sheet cassettes in two independent basins. The membrane replaces the secondary clarifier entirely, so the biology can run at four times the mixed liquor concentration a settling tank would tolerate.
The Clearflow MBR-RX 900 is a standard Clearflow configuration rated at 90 m³/h of permeate at 96 % system recovery, which is 2,160 m³ over a continuous day. The published envelope assumes 25 °C, a clean membrane and the design feed analysis; every project is re-projected against the water you actually have before a price is issued.
The array is arranged as 2 parallel basins, each 6 submerged flat-sheet cassettes. Element type is Submerged flat-sheet cassette, 350 m² each, running on chlorine-tolerant PVDF flat sheet, 0.08 µm. Design flux is held at 21.4 LMH so the concentrate velocity through the last element stays inside the manufacturer envelope at design recovery — the single most reliable predictor of how long the membranes will last.
| Parameter | Design value | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Feed pressure | 0.4 bar | At design feed TDS and 25 °C |
| Trans-membrane differential | 0.28 bar | Clean; change-out trigger at twice this value |
| Feed temperature | 8–38 °C | Output falls roughly 3 % per °C below 25 °C |
| Continuous pH | 5.0–9.0 | Wider band tolerated during cleaning |
| Free chlorine | Max 0.50 mg/L | Continuous exposure limit at the membrane face |
| Concentrate flow | 3.8 m³/h | At design recovery |
In-situ maintenance clean fortnightly, recovery clean annually. Control is by Industrial PLC with dissolved oxygen, MLSS and permeability control. The wetted specification is 316L basin internals, HDPE aeration grid, PVDF cassettes. Pressurisation is by duty-standby permeate suction pumps with air-scour blowers; not applicable.
