Crop Applications

How GreenGrow system families are configured for vine crops, leafy greens, soft fruit and young plant propagation.

Crop Applications

The crop decides the strategy

The same hardware serves very different purposes depending on what is growing under it. Below is how our systems are typically configured for the four crop groups we work with most.

Vine crops

Tomato, pepper and cucumber grow on long production cycles that run most of the year. For these crops the priority is giving the plants enough light through the darker months and keeping the air around the fruit comfortable in summer. We combine climate control, supplemental lighting and recirculating irrigation so the crop stays in steady, healthy growth all season.

Leafy greens and herbs

Lettuce, basil and baby leaf crops turn over in just a few weeks, so consistency matters more than anything else. Our systems keep the water, the feed and the root-zone temperature stable from one short cycle to the next, because with fast crops a single bad week affects the whole harvest.

Soft fruit

Strawberries and other berries grown in elevated troughs need careful humidity control at night to keep the crop healthy, and precise feeding as the plants move through flowering and fruiting. Our systems manage both automatically, with working heights set for comfortable picking.

Young plant propagation

Seedling and cutting houses need gentle, even conditions: high humidity, very uniform light and a climate that responds quickly. Because these compartments are frequently rearranged between batches, we configure the equipment for flexibility and easy cleaning.
