The Cookware Workshop
The Hundred-Year Guarantee
What we cover, what we do not, and why we do not ask for a receipt.
The short version
If a piece of our iron cracks, warps, pits through or fails in any way that is not deliberate abuse, we will restore it or re-cast it. Once per owner. For a hundred years from the date it was poured.
We do not ask for a receipt, because we can identify our own castings by their grain and their gate mark. If it is ours, it is covered.
What is covered
- Cracks, including hairline cracks that only show when the piece is hot.
- Warping severe enough that the base rocks on a flat surface.
- Casting porosity or inclusions that surface after grinding.
- Handles or loops that separate from the body.
- Rust that has pitted through the wall — genuinely rare, but it happens to pans left outside.
What is not covered
- Surface rust and lost seasoning. That is maintenance, and we will fix it free anyway — see below.
- Damage from being dropped onto concrete. Iron is strong and brittle; physics wins.
- Pieces that have been machined, drilled, welded or enamelled by somebody else.
Free re-seasoning is separate, and it never runs out
The guarantee is a once-per-owner thing. Re-seasoning is not. Send any piece back at any time, as often as you like, and we will strip it, re-grind the face if it needs it and put three fresh coats of flax on it. You pay the postage one way. We pay the other.
How to start a claim
Email the workshop with a photograph and roughly when you bought it. We will reply within two working days with a return label and, if it is a re-cast, a rough date for the next pour of that pattern.
