The Weald exists for the rides that end heavier than they started — the market run, the nursery drop-off, the load of washing that will not fit on a shoulder.
Braced to carry
The front rack mounts to the frame rather than the fork, so a heavy basket does not fight the steering. Together the two racks are rated for thirty-five kilograms of cargo, which is considerably more than most people will ever ask of them.
Gearing that forgives
An eleven-speed hub gives a genuinely low bottom gear. Loaded and facing a hill, you simply change down and keep spinning rather than standing on the pedals.
Stable at low speed
A longer wheelbase and 47mm tyres make the Weald calm to steer while walking pace, which is exactly when a loaded bicycle is most likely to feel unruly.
