Description
Solid wood instruments crack because the air around them dries out, not because they are fragile. This is the kit we keep in every case that leaves the shop: a calibrated dial hygrometer, two 49 per cent two-way regulating sachets that both release and absorb moisture, and a small bottle of conditioning oil for the fingerboard and bridge.
Replace the sachets roughly every four months, or when they go hard. Keep the case between 45 and 55 per cent relative humidity and you will never need us.
