Copper microchannel cold plate for a server CPU with mirror-polished base and two stainless steel barb fittings

The CX500 exists because a rack full of accelerators still has host processors, and a 1U chassis has no vertical room to spare for them.

Height is the specification

At 15 mm the CX500 clears the constraints of a dense 1U node with the memory and the riser still in place. Getting there without giving up performance meant a finer channel geometry and a shorter, wider flow path rather than a taller fin stack.

Plumbed in series

A two-socket node normally runs both CX500 plates in series off one supply branch. At 0.18 bar apiece the pair fits comfortably inside the pressure budget a rack manifold has to work with, which keeps the node-level plumbing to a single inlet and a single return.

One service kit

The CX500 uses the same fitting standard as the GX1600. A technician carries one set of couplings, one torque spec and one leak-check procedure for the whole rack.

Module 05 — Flow envelope

Delta-T against required flow

This unit rejects 1 kW. Widening the temperature difference across the loop cuts the volume of water you have to move — and pump power falls with roughly the cube of flow.

Water at 4.18 kJ/kg·K, density taken as 1 kg/L. Pump power index scales with the cube of the flow ratio against this unit’s nominal 8.0 K design point.
