Clearflow RO-BW 120 membrane treatment train

Clearflow RO-BW 120

Two-stage brackish RO skid for boiler make-up and general process duty.

12m³/hPermeate capacity
99.50%Nominal rejection
75%System recovery
0.86kWh/m³Specific energy
18pcsMembrane elements
5,000mg/LMax feed TDS

The smallest fully-instrumented brackish train in the range. Three vessels in a 2:1 taper, a vertical multistage pump on a drive, and enough control depth to run unattended overnight.

What it is designed to do

The Clearflow RO-BW 120 is a standard Clearflow configuration rated at 12 m³/h of permeate at 75 % system recovery, which is 288 m³ over a continuous day. The published envelope assumes 25 °C, a clean membrane and the design feed analysis; every project is re-projected against the water you actually have before a price is issued.

  • Feed envelope — up to 5,000 mg/L TDS, SDI15 below 4, turbidity below 0.5 NTU
  • Membrane hardware — 18 elements across 3 vessels, 670 m² of active area
  • Energy — 0.86 kWh/m³ of product at design conditions, 15 kW installed motor load
  • Delivery — 3.6 × 1.4 × 2.1 m, 1,450 kg dry, 10–12 weeks ex works

How the array is put together

The array is arranged as 2 stage, 2:1 taper, 6 elements per vessel. Element type is BW 8040 spiral wound, 37.2 m² each, running on thin-film composite polyamide. Design flux is held at 17.9 LMH so the concentrate velocity through the last element stays inside the manufacturer envelope at design recovery — the single most reliable predictor of how long the membranes will last.

Operating conditions

ParameterDesign valueNote
Feed pressure14.9 barAt design feed TDS and 25 °C
Trans-membrane differential1.60 barClean; change-out trigger at twice this value
Feed temperature5–40 °COutput falls roughly 3 % per °C below 25 °C
Continuous pH3.0–10.0Wider band tolerated during cleaning
Free chlorineMax 0.10 mg/LContinuous exposure limit at the membrane face
Concentrate flow4.0 m³/hAt design recovery

Cleaning, control and materials

Integrated two-stage CIP, 500 L heated tank. Control is by Industrial PLC with a 7 in colour HMI. The wetted specification is 316L wetted parts, FRP pressure vessels, uPVC low-pressure lines. Pressurisation is by vertical multistage 316L on a variable frequency drive; not required at this operating pressure.
