Clearflow UF-PV 600 membrane treatment train

Clearflow UF-PV 600

Outside-in PVDF ultrafiltration rack on fixed-flux control for high-turbidity feeds.

Built for feeds that misbehave. Thirty modules across three independently isolatable racks, sized so the plant holds design output with any one rack in backwash or in clean.

What it is designed to do

The Clearflow UF-PV 600 is a standard Clearflow configuration rated at 60 m³/h of permeate at 93 % system recovery, which is 1,440 m³ over a continuous day. The published envelope assumes 25 °C, a clean membrane and the design feed analysis; every project is re-projected against the water you actually have before a price is issued.

  • Feed envelope — up to 4,000 mg/L TDS, SDI15 below 20, turbidity below 80 NTU
  • Membrane hardware — 30 elements across 30 vessels, 1,650 m² of active area
  • Energy — 0.14 kWh/m³ of product at design conditions, 22 kW installed motor load
  • Delivery — 7.4 × 2.2 × 3.2 m, 4,600 kg dry, 10–12 weeks ex works

How the array is put together

The array is arranged as 3 parallel racks, each 10 modules — any one rack isolatable at full output. Element type is PVDF outside-in hollow fibre module, 55 m² each, running on hydrophilic PVDF, 0.03 µm nominal pore size. Design flux is held at 36.4 LMH so the concentrate velocity through the last element stays inside the manufacturer envelope at design recovery — the single most reliable predictor of how long the membranes will last.

Operating conditions

ParameterDesign valueNote
Feed pressure2.1 barAt design feed TDS and 25 °C
Trans-membrane differential0.62 barClean; change-out trigger at twice this value
Feed temperature5–40 °COutput falls roughly 3 % per °C below 25 °C
Continuous pH2.0–11.0Wider band tolerated during cleaning
Free chlorineMax 200.00 mg/LContinuous exposure limit at the membrane face
Concentrate flow4.5 m³/hAt design recovery

Cleaning, control and materials

CEB on a 24 h cycle, recovery clean quarterly, 1,200 L CIP tank. Control is by Industrial PLC with per-rack TMP normalisation and auto CEB scheduling. The wetted specification is 316L manifolds, GRP feed headers, PVDF module bodies. Pressurisation is by two duty-standby horizontal feed pumps plus backwash set; not applicable to a low-pressure barrier.
