BlueWave Marine Hardware Rigging & Deck Systems

Closed-Body Rigging Screw

The closed barrel keeps water and grit off the threads and gives a clean visual line at the chainplate. Rolled threads for fatigue life, with a lock nut at each end.

  • Closed body keeps salt and grit out of the thread, the usual cause of seizure at refit.
  • Rolled threads improve fatigue life at the root compared with cut threads.
  • Lock nuts at both ends, plus a drilled fork pin for split ring or mousing wire.
  • Barrel and studs sold separately as spares for long-term fleet support.

Product Details

Sized for cap shrouds, lower shrouds and backstays on yachts using 7 mm and 8 mm 1×19 wire. Check the take-up against your rig: 90 mm is generous for tuning but a badly cut wire cannot be rescued by a longer screw.

At annual service, back the screw off completely, clean the thread and re-assemble with a marine anti-seize compound rated for stainless-on-stainless contact. Never apply load to a rigging screw with fewer than the full thread engagement showing in the inspection slot.
