The standard turning point when halyards are led aft. Mount it far enough forward that the lead angle into the clutch stays under about 8 degrees, otherwise the line rides the sheave flange and the cover wears quickly.
The base is designed for a bolted, bedded fixing into a reinforced deck. We do not recommend self-tapping screws at this load, regardless of what the previous installation used.
