What made to order actually means here
No warehouse, no clearance rail, nothing we have not sat on ourselves. You pick the weave, the size, the fill and the leg, we build it once and deliver it ourselves.
- 01 Every cloth tested in this building Each weave goes through an abrasion rig and a stain panel before it reaches the sample book. The numbers we quote are ours, not the mill’s.
- 02 One maker per piece The same pair of hands takes your sofa from bare beech frame to finished cover, and signs the underside when it is done.
- 03 Sizes altered, not just offered Width, depth, seat height and arm profile can all move. Tell us the wall and the doorway and we will cut new patterns.

The same rules, two very different houses
Sixty per cent of the colour in a good room sits on one object. Everything else stands back and lets it work — which is why the range is built to be mixed rather than matched.
- 01 Let one piece lead Put the saturated colour on the largest object and keep the walls quiet behind it.
- 02 Ground the quiet colours Moss and slate are too soft to lead. They work as the floor of a scheme with a warmer cloth on top.

- 01 Order swatches Up to eight pieces of cloth, posted flat, no charge and nothing to send back.
- 02 Settle the size Send us the wall, the doorway and the stair turn. We will tell you what fits and what has to be altered.
- 03 We build it One upholsterer takes the piece from bare frame to finished cover in our own workroom.
- 04 We deliver it Two of us bring it in, unwrap it, place it and take the packaging away.

49 days, swatch to living room
- 01 Swatch and selection 5 d Up to eight swatches posted free. The clock starts when you order them.
- 02 Order placed, cloth reserved 3 d House cottons ship from our own racks. Mill cloth is called off against your order.
- 03 Pattern cutting 4 d Every panel is cut by hand against the nap so the pile runs one way.
- 04 Frame build and sprung base 7 d Kiln-dried beech, dowelled and corner-blocked, then eight-way hand-tied.
- 05 Sewing and upholstery 16 d One upholsterer takes a piece from bare frame to finished cover.
- 06 Finishing and inspection 4 d Legs fitted, seams checked under raking light, cushions filled and weighed.
- 07 Delivery and installation 10 d Two-person delivery, unwrapped, placed and the packaging taken away.
Counted in working days from the morning your swatches are posted. Hides and woven-to-order cloth add to the reservation stage; altered sizes add pattern work before sewing begins.
