Coolant Distribution
KX-CDU A120
In-Rack Liquid-to-Air CDU
A self-contained 4U CDU that rejects to room air — liquid cooling for sites with no facility water at all.
- Rated capacity
- 120 kW
- Per rack
- 120 kW
- Nominal Delta-T
- 12 K
- Nominal flow
- 143 L/min
- Supply water
- Room air 18 – 35 °C
- Max pressure
- 4.0 bar
- Partial PUE
- 1.15
- Working fluid
- PG25 secondary, air primary
The hardest liquid cooling projects are not the big ones. They are the ones at a site with no chilled water loop, no roof plant and no mechanical contractor on retainer — a lab, a regional edge site, a floor of an office building that suddenly has to host eight accelerators.
The whole loop in 4U
The KX-CDU A120 contains the pump, the reservoir, the filtration and an air-side coil in a single 4U chassis that mounts in the rack it serves. Coolant leaves the front ports to the rack manifold, comes back warm, and the heat goes into the room air. There is no facility water connection because there is no facility water.
What that buys you
A standard cabinet becomes a direct-to-chip rack with a power connection and nothing else. The room still has to absorb the heat, so the A120 is not a route to a hundred-kilowatt hall — but for a single dense rack in a room with existing CRAC capacity, it removes every civil-works dependency from the schedule.
When to move on from it
Once a site has more than two or three A120 racks, the room air becomes the bottleneck and the economics turn toward a facility water loop and an L600. We will tell you when you have reached that point rather than selling you the fourth one.

Module 05 — Flow envelope
Delta-T against required flow
This unit rejects 120 kW. Widening the temperature difference across the loop cuts the volume of water you have to move — and pump power falls with roughly the cube of flow.
- Required flow
- 144 L/min
- Return temperature
- 42.0 °C at W30 supply
- Relative pump power
- 100 % of nominal
Water at 4.18 kJ/kg·K, density taken as 1 kg/L. Pump power index scales with the cube of the flow ratio against this unit’s nominal 12.0 K design point.
