Factory construction is not automatically low carbon. It is low waste, low disruption and highly repeatable — and those three things, used properly, are what let us cut embodied carbon by more than a third against an in-situ concrete baseline.

Where the savings come from
Cutting steel and timber on a jig produces offcuts we can sort, not a skip full of mixed rubble. Ordering the same components fourteen times a week means we buy in full loads rather than part loads. And a unit that arrives finished removes three months of vans, generators and site huts from a residential street.
Where they do not
Volumetric uses more steel than a panelised system, because every unit has to survive being lifted. We do not pretend otherwise. On low-rise schemes with easy access, panelised construction can carry less embodied carbon than we do — and we will tell you when that is the case.
Design for disassembly
Every unit is bolted, not welded, at the inter-module connection. A Modulon building can be unstacked, transported and re-erected on another site, and four of our Site & Camp projects already have been.
