A 1800 mm mobile screen on brass castors. Felt absorption on one face, a slatted scattering surface on the other, so you can turn the room around a session rather than rebuild it.

Separation without construction

A rolling screen will never replace a wall, and we will not pretend otherwise. What it does is take a real, useful bite out of the sound travelling between two sources in the same room — usually the difference between a recording you can use and one you cannot.

Construction

  • A dense internal barrier layer between the two faces.
  • Soft felt on one face, slatted hardwood on the other.
  • Braked castors with a low, wide base for stability.
  • Optional laminated glass window insert for sight lines.

Working with them

Screens work best close to the loud thing, not close to the microphone. Build a partial enclosure around the loud instrument and let the rest of the room stay open.
