Why depth matters

Most recording shields are a thin layer of foam, which takes the crispness out of a voice while letting the boomy part of the room straight through. The VS-Pro uses a deep, graded shell so the voice stays natural and the room stays out of the recording.

Construction

  • Curved shell with a felt lining that gets thicker towards the back.
  • Solid hardwood base with a cable channel.
  • Standard thread for boom or floor stand mounting.
  • Optional skirt for desks with hard, reflective surfaces.

Placement

Set the microphone a hand’s width inside the opening. Any deeper and the shell starts to colour the voice; any shallower and the room comes straight back in.
