The making

Four weeks from wet clay to your table

Every order begins as a ball of grey stoneware on the wheel. We throw in small batches, trim each foot by hand, dip the glaze twice and fire the kiln hot. The kiln decides the rest — how the glaze breaks over a rim, where the speckle rises through. We have stopped trying to control it.

Material & care

Built for the dishwasher, not the cabinet

Stoneware fired this hard is dense, chip-resistant and completely food safe. Use it every day — that is the entire point.

The clay

A speckled grey stoneware with a high iron content. The freckles you see are iron blooming through the glaze during the firing — never a flaw, always the body showing itself.

The glaze

Mixed in the studio from raw minerals, free of lead and barium. It pools darker in the throwing rings and breaks pale over every rim, which is how you can tell one bowl from the next.

The care

Dishwasher safe, microwave safe, oven safe to 180°C. Avoid the shock of a hot piece under a cold tap. The unglazed foot may soften a polished table, so lift rather than drag.
