Knowing where the vent actually is
Many older installations estimate vent position from motor run time. Slip, wind load and mechanical wear make that estimate drift, and the climate controller ends up regulating against a number that is no longer true. The ventilation drive reports absolute encoder position, so the control loop and the reality agree.
Wind side is a different problem
Opening the windward vents in a stiff breeze does not ventilate, it pressurises. Lee and wind side are driven independently so the strategy can favour the leeward opening and hold the windward side closed above a wind threshold.
Failing safe
Storm protection is wired as an independent circuit. If the controller, the network or the building management system fails, the vents still close.
